Thanks for the link. There was a law here where it was illegal according to an former IMPD officer. It was on the books but rarely enforced.

I have friends in high places, as we say here, under the Gold Dome, so I Could get the pushed through the Legislature I feel confident if you think it's important and it would save lives. I remember it being stated as illegal at some point but either way I would recommend wearing shoes while driving as I would other safe tactics. I DONT believe in over legislating society though, but If the behavior that we are discussing could potentially Harm Others then it may need to be considered (as in loss of or less control of a vehicle due to not wearing shoes) DUI puts others in harms way, BUT although I believe in wearing Seatbelts, that is the government "protecting me from my choices" which would result in my harm not to others typically so I believe in the device but NOT the Laws. I think the smart driver would wear shoes when operating a vehicle, thats my opinion (I am sure we Could get in on the books if you wanted to persue it)....

911 would be a reasonable exception and incoming calls shoulod be logged for later followup. However, how do you tell 911 your exact location if you are going 45 MPH?? lol!

by ItisAJeepThing  Jun 30, 2014

My doors automatically lock when I hit 15 MPH. That should also block all cell and smart phone activity. It would take a long time to get that instituted.

Hey thanks for the email and you are correct it appears there are no state laws that prohibit driving bare foot. I did a check on Ohio law where we drive about six months out of the year and sure enough there arfe no state laws that say anything about but ther was an add on that there are some local statutes against driving without footwear and that local statutes should be checked to avoid running afoul of a local police department. Thanks again and keep up the good work the only way we are informed is if we are told what is and is not true.
