Maine gas station lets you wash your dog

GasBuddy Blog -- Americans spend an awful lot of money on our pets. The American Pet Products Association says we'll spend about $52.8 billion this year.

If the owner of the Tradewinds (Citgo) gas station on Union Street in Bangor, Maine has guessed correctly, some of that pet care cash will be spent at his station too. He's added a dog wash to the gas station/convenience store/ car wash he operates and already he's serving folks who want to fill the tank and wash their dog.

Jennifer Brown, a local resident who now brings her dog, Dozier, there for his bath, says "It's cheaper than bringing him to a groomer and it's really not that hard. It's definitely easier than trying to do it with him at home, trying to get him into a tub."

OK, now, when are they going to add a Cat Wash too? Cats need to be handled a bit differently from dogs. They're less tolerant of water and handling, and require competely different flea/tick treatments when used.

Of course I just washed a cat in a kitchen sink once, with plain soap & water.

how about instead of finding obscure topics to write about, get the points calculator fixed? I have 6 posts that I read and the counter only jumps 1 post (plus reply). Yet, when I go to post #5, it jumps suddenly from 880 to 975 (which should only be worth 45 points). Interesting math, but ain't cutting it for me.

Been watching that alien math happening for weeks now.

The Mobil station in Racine,WI on Hwy 20 and Sunnyslope Rd. has a special pet wash at the car wash building so you can wash your pet while you are there washing your car.

Does washing your dog save money on gas? Certainly there is something more interesting and important than an article like this that keeps repeating itself each day. GB that desperate for news?

Anything gas stations can do to increase profits. The markup on gasoline for them isn't that much.
