Looks like a fluffed up car, not Jeep like at all. And does this thing have a rear end? Similar pics of the front only shown. If they put this ugly front end on a true Jeep, it is the end of Jeep.

2013 just starts and we are already talking about the 2014 models. Do they get better MPG or are they flex fuel?

I thought it was cool when the Cherokee was available with the Hemi V-8 so people could tow boats, trailers, etc. America is about PERSONAL CHOICE...or it used to be.

You know, there's only so far that one can go in De-SUVing an SUV before you make it into something you can't recognize....
I understand that Ford and Chrysler has felt the need to make their former SUVs look more carlike in order to keep marketing them (very much unlike the early 2000s, when GM felt the need to make their minivans look more SUV-like to sell them), but this is taking it a bit too far. Especially for the Cherokee nameplate – a classic nameplate that can be said to have STARTED the SUV era in the first place.

Automotive News has previously reported that the Cherokee would be powered by a 3.2-liter V6 engine based on Chrysler's 3.6-liter Pentastar engine, as well as an all-new nine-speed front-wheel-drive automatic transmission designed by ZF Friedrichshafen.
9 Speed transmission. This should be something to see. I wonder how long you have to drive and at what speed you find high gear. Put three more in it and call it a Mack.

Perhaps they should call their new jeep , "The Sinkhole". in keeping of the money that you have to pour down it to keep it running. Chrysler would do well to hire some engineers instead of more marketing people. Harvard MBA's don't know how to spell engineering.

I had three of the old original Cherokees between 1984 and 1998 and one Liberty purchased in 2003. They were decent vehicles for their time, rugged and fun to drive on and off road, but the gas mileage sucked and it became difficult to justify having one as a primary car. The new one looks good and if Jeep has been able to replicate the traditional toughness and performance of the older models and also achieve mileage ratings that are competitive for the mid-size SUV class, they should have a winner here.

The Jeep Cherokee doesn't need a lot of changes. It's similar to the VW bug which has been the same for ages. A Bug is a Bug and a Jeep is a Jeep.
