Convert home heating from oil to natural gas. Use the distillate oil products for vehicles.

Again, this is good to drive vehicle prices down, but there needs to be an infrastructure of refueling stations for this to even take off. While a pain to charge an electric car for a couple hours every four hours, you can do it almost anywhere.

How many millions of homes have gas stoves, @jrsva?
There's a greater chance of the local utility causing a gas leak while digging up the street than of a gas leak in the garage.

I remember LP fueled and dual LP/gasoline vehicles in the fifties. Some people drove the "flexfuel" conversions into Mexico to extend the range and keep from buying Mexican gasoline.

“. . . home fueling technology that would allow consumers to fill up their natural gas tanks in their own garages.”
Wow, I’m looking forward to that. I wonder how many fires and explosions there will be from leaks and loose connections, especially if it is set up in a garage.

Just for the record, @NemoIL, the CNG powered Honda Civic costs around 10% to 15% more than a regular Civic. It's slightly more expensive than the Civic hybrid.
